CCII Director Tasuku Honjo Awarded Honorary Doctor of Medicine Degree from the National Taiwan University


Professor Tasuku Honjo was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Medicine Degree from National Taiwan University. This award honours Professor Honjo’s exceptional achievements. It is the first time that a Japanese was awarded with this prestigious degree.  

On April 23, 2023, the President and other delegates from the National Taiwan University visited Kyoto University for the award ceremony. During the ceremony, President Chen Wen-Chang remarked that “Professor Honjo has demonstrated exceptional leadership as a globally renowned immunologist and has spearheaded a revolutionary approach to cancer treatment.” Professor Honjo expressed his thanks and underlined that “Taiwan and Japan have a close relationship and share common values. The National Taiwan University and Kyoto University enhance academic collaborations for the betterment of Taiwan and Japan’s future, fostering continued goodwill for the next generations through students and researchers exchange.”
