“We are working towards our dream to control cancer through sophisticated, yet widely available, immune system interventions over the next two decades. Towards this end, we envision an integrative, holistic approach toward understanding the physiology of health and disease, aided by systems biology approaches and cutting-edge medical technology and bioinformatics.
CCII brings together basic scientific research with medical and clinical practitioners in order to explore the evolving status of the immune system during cancer development, as well as how it effects other major physiological functions in the nervous endocrine, circulatory and gastro-intestinal systems.
We aim to create a vibrant scientific environment, empowering researchers to engage with pioneering work in new, integrated fields of medical knowledge.”

Working at CCII
Our goal is to transform society through science. Our aim is to become a world-leading research institute fostering discoveries that will enable us to control and conquer cancer and other diseases by harnessing the power of the immune system. CCII offers a variety of positions to Japanese and international scientists, including post-docs, junior professor positions, and positions for full professors and division leaders.
Studying at CCII
While primarily a research institute, CCII hosts graduate students affiliated with the Kyoto University School of Medicine as well as other departments and universities, and scientists at the center are supervising research projects of master and PhD students. Funding for PhD students at CCII is available through CCII’s internal PhD scholarship program.
